“The county should pay the judgment, learn from their mistakes and move on,” Paboojian said Monday. But according to Fresno County spokeswoman Sonja Dosti, the Board of Supervisors is not backing down. In an email, Dosti said: “An offer was made to settle but the plaintiffs’ demand was still excessive at that point. While the County of Fresno is respectful of the jury’s decision, it does not agree with it. The County believes the judgment was excessive on what we considered to be incorrect findings of fact and application of the law. The County is considering an appeal.”
Kane and Paboojian bristled at the notion that Hamilton made judicial error during the trial or the jury didn’t come to the right decision.
