Ryan graduated from California State University Fresno in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in anthropology. He went on to attend the University of Santa Clara School of Law, and graduated with a J.D. in 1997. Ryan was admitted to the State Bar that same year. His career since has focused mainly on research and writing, and maintained a successful law motion practice while working for more than 20 years in insurance defense. Ryan also conducted civil discovery, from taking and defending depositions, to promulgating written discovery, and took charge of cases involving complex or challenging legal issues or defenses. He has argued and handled cases in the local federal District Court, successfully defended an appeal before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and has practiced and argued before the First, Fifth and Sixth Court of Appeals. Duly impressed by the trial acumen of the Paboojian law office, Ryan joined the firm and transitioned to representing plaintiffs.
